[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] PurpleBeck talks about their music, goals, and more!

⁣⁣⁣Note: This interview was conducted a few months ago so it does include answers from member LaYeon before she went on hiatus.

Meet PurpleBeck, a five-member girl group from South Korea that made their mark on the kpop world in 2019 with the high-energy song “Crystal Ball.” Today we’ll speak with the group about their music, goals, and more!

How would you describe Purplebeck’s music to somebody who’s never heard it before?

Our sound is rock-based dance-pop music, but we always try to include self-respect, confidence, and hope in the lyrics. It can be a bit weird when you listen to it for the first time, but I’m sure you will become addicted.

What’s the meaning behind your group name Purplebeck?

“Purple” is the color used to honor the great people who sacrificed their lives for others, “Beck” is the small stream in a village. It symbolizes those small forces coming together to become one great force.

Do you have any upcoming projects?

Since our debut, we’ve always performed live, but many people think we were singing to a playback. Therefore, we are planning to meet our fans in live performances.

How much have you missed performing for fans during the pandemic?

I want to feel the energy of meeting the fans in person. I want to meet them as soon as Covid is over. That is what we want the most right now.

What’s the secret behind Purple Beck’s great teamwork?

Yeowool & Yerim: Respect for each other.

Layeon: Be honest with each other.

Mini & Seyeon: Taking care of each other.

If you did not debut as an idol, what kind of job would you have?

Yeowool: Nothing. Because I was born to be an idol.

Layeon: Tattoo artist.

Mini: Café owner.

Seyeon: Fashion model.

What does PurpleBeck mean to you?

Yeowool, Yerim, Layeon & Mini: Family

Seyeon: Everything

What’s your Goal for 2021?

Meet fans more often, even on the internet.
