[INTERVIEW] A.C.E Talks New Single ‘Anymore,’ Global Tours, and more!
When it comes to being a K-pop group, many fans expect them to have the whole package, including stage presence, engaging dance moves, and overall great concepts. A group with all that and more is none other than A.C.E. They debuted in 2017 and have been steadily growing ever since. Fresh off the high of their North American tour and the release of their latest song ‘Anymore,’ we had the opportunity to speak with them. We learned more about their new single, upcoming South American tour, and much more!
Congratulations on your new release! Can each member please introduce yourselves?
PARK JUNHEE: Hello everyone! I’m Park Junhee, the leader of A.C.E.
LEE DONGHUN: Hi there! I’m Lee Donghun, A.C.E’s main vocalist.
KIM BYEONGKWAN: Hello! I’m BK, the main performance artist
WOW: Hey everyone! I’m Wow, chiki-bang Wow!
KANG YUCHAN: Hello everyone! I’m the A.C.E of your hearts, Kang Yuchan!
Your new single ‘Anymore’ is quite a departure from your previous high-energy tracks. Can you tell us about the creative process behind this song and what inspired the more introspective and emotional approach?
KANG YUCHAN: I think we’ve spent a lot of time thinking and experimenting on how we could express this track more in A.C.E’s style – More vividly and relatably for our audience. As a result, we’ve reduced elements like vocal harmonies and pads, aiming to showcase each member’s individual voices more clearly and authentically.
LEE DONGHUN: We’ve done many tracks that highlighted our vocal abilities in the past, but this autumn release gave us a chance to connect with fans in a more subtle way. We wanted to offer comfort and be like a gentle breeze for our listeners.
You recently completed your North American tour, congrats! Any special spoilers for the upcoming Latin America and Europe tour?
KIM BYEONGKWAN: There will be exclusive stage performances that you haven’t seen before, which would only be available via this concert. So make sure to come and soak up A.C.E’s positive energy! We can’t wait to see you all!
Our readers refer to you as the “Kings of concepts.” What thought process do you follow when creating your concepts?
PARK JUNHEE: We constantly balance the need to show something new with the desire to demonstrate our growth. Our concepts emerge from numerous brainstorming sessions driven by these goals.
Each member brings something special to the group. How do you feel your individual experiences over the last two years have shaped A.C.E as a whole?
WOW: I think we’ve learned how to handle various situations more flexibly and make the most of our time. This has led us to have a more relaxed, laid-back approach on things, allowing us to stay more positive and vibrant as a group.
You’ve been in the K-pop scene since 2017. What do you think has been the key to A.C.E’s staying power and ability to captivate a global audience?
PARK JUNHEE: It would have been impossible without our fans’ support. Despite our long hiatuses due to military service and the pandemic, our fans waited for us and have stood by us since day one. Their support and trust have made us who we are today.
What can fans expect from A.C.E in the future?
KIM BYEONGKWAN: Please look forward to our continuously evolving members, great songs, and perfect teamwork between our members! I assure you, you won’t be disappointed.
