Tomorrow K-drama Review
Summer break is the perfect time to catch up on K-Dramas, binge new ones, and watch many at the same time. Let me add one more to your list of K-dramas to watch this summer. If you like thrillers, fantasy, and action all in one drama, Tomorrow is the perfect show for you.
This drama is based off a webtoon under the same name and has a total of 16 episodes. The plot follows a team of grim reapers who were created for the sole purpose of saving lives. The team consists of Choi Jun-woong (Ro Woon) our kind-hearted and playful lead, who is trying to figure out what to do with his life after many failed attempts of landing a corporate job and happens to become a grim reaper.
Koo Ryeon (Kim Hee-Soon) is the serious leader of the team. She carries a heavy past, and can come across as harsh and cruel, but her motives and intentions are pure. She has a kind heart but only lets a few people see it. Lim Ryung-Gu (Yoon Ji-On) is Koo Ryeons trusted right hand, he appears quiet and serious as well and does what he can to help his team leader.
Another notable character is Park Joong-Gil (Lee Soo-Hyuk) who tries everything he can to defy this team and waits for their downfall. He doesn’t seem to understand the purpose of trying to save people who he already deems lost.
This drama portrays topics such as depression, self-harm, suicide, and bullying in a digestible presentation for the viewers. These topics were wonderfully executed and didn’t fall into any harmful stereotypes. Viewers are able to sympathize and relate to the characters. The solutions were solved in a way that brings closure to the characters and viewers.
As a viewer I learned so much about friendship, loyalty, and forgiveness. This drama shows a lot about perseverance and holding on to the happy memories and to the love and hope around us, even in moments where we don’t think it’s worth holding on to.
I definitely recommend this drama, I laughed, and I cried so get your tissue box ready.
