flowerovlove Opens Up About Confidence, Vulnerability and the Two Sides of MINI SKIRT WARRIOR
For flowerovlove, growing up wasn’t simply about getting older. It was about learning how to take control of her emotions, becoming more vulnerable and ultimately allowing more of herself to come through in her music.
During a recent press conference, TokkiStar asked the London based artist how her idea of confidence and self-expression had changed as she transitioned from her teenage years into adulthood, and how that evolution influenced her debut album, MINI SKIRT WARRIOR. Her answer began with a memory from when she was just 14 years old.
At the time, flowerovlove said she was heavily focused on scrolling through TikTok and was in a “very, very sad state.” A trip to a magazine store with her brother, however, introduced her to the concept of the Law of Attraction and encouraged her to start reading more. That moment ultimately changed the way she approached her emotions.
She began consciously choosing how she wanted to feel rather than allowing her environment, the people around her or the things she consumed to dictate her emotional state.
“When I was fifteen, at that point, I was like, I’m choosing to be happy”
she explained.
“Because I woke up today”
For flowerovlove, practicing gratitude became an important part of that shift. She said that she has maintained that mindset from age 15 through 21, consistently journaling and practicing gratitude.
From Protecting Herself to Being Vulnerable
While that mindset helped shape flowerovlove personally, she said it eventually began influencing her music in a much more vulnerable way.
One of the biggest changes was becoming comfortable with writing honestly about how she actually felt. “I never used to be a very vulnerable person whatsoever” She said. Writing MINI SKIRT WARRIOR forced her to confront that.
“I gotta write about something real”
flowerovlove recalled thinking during the creation of the album.
She explained that some of her earlier songs, including “I’ve Seen Your Ex” and “New Friends,” allowed her to mask some of her deeper emotions. With MINI SKIRT WARRIOR, however, she wanted to bring more substance and honesty into her songwriting.
That vulnerability became one of the defining characteristics of the album.
The Two Sides of flowerovlove
Perhaps the most interesting part of flowerovlove’s answer was how she connected that vulnerability to the album’s central alter ego: Mini Skirt Warrior.
Rather than seeing the character as completely separate from herself, she explained that the album represents two sides of who she is.
“This album is half Mini Skirt Warrior and half flowerovlove”
she said.
The distinction becomes especially clear when the mood of the music changes.
When the songs become sad, intimate and stripped back, particularly when acoustic guitar enters the picture, flowerovlove sees that as her more vulnerable side. But when the music shifts toward confidence and attitude, that’s where Mini Skirt Warrior comes out.
As she described it, the bold persona represents the side of her that can confidently proclaim, “I’m your first bad bitch,” while the quieter, more emotional moments belong to flowerovlove herself.
That duality allows MINI SKIRT WARRIOR to explore confidence without suggesting that confidence always looks the same.
Sometimes it means feeling powerful and unapologetic. Other times, it means being honest enough to admit when you’re hurting.

Finding Confidence Through Honesty
For flowerovlove, the evolution from her teenage years into adulthood seems to have changed more than just the way she sees herself. It has changed what she’s willing to reveal through her art. The confidence represented by Mini Skirt Warrior isn’t necessarily about hiding vulnerability. Instead, the album allows both sides to exist together.
The confident persona and the more vulnerable flowerovlove can occupy the same project because, ultimately, they’re both parts of her.
And that may be one of the most personal aspects of MINI SKIRT WARRIOR: beneath the mini skirts, confidence and bold alter ego is an artist becoming increasingly comfortable with letting listeners see who she really is.
For flowerovlove, growing up has meant learning to choose gratitude, embracing vulnerability and finding the confidence to finally write about what is real.
And with MINI SKIRT WARRIOR, she’s allowing listeners to see both sides.
