Khundi Panda’s Creative MV Look at the Song “Home”

On August 26, Khundi Panda released a visionary music video piece for the rap, “Home” with Hippy was G***y.

According to a news source named “namu.wiki”, Khundi Panda is a Korean rapper and designer, which explains his creative touch on this music video. His first steps into the music industry began while he was studying abroad in China. During this time, he grew fond of the group Epik High, and one could say that might’ve led him to where he is today. With his growing love for music, he decided to step into this new strange world.

Khundi Panda, was featured on the hit Korean rap competition show “Show Me The Money 5”. After his success on the show, he slowly started to gain recognition for his music.

Initially, Khundi Panda was a part of a group named Purpera Ethics. After disbanding from that group he joined a crew called Juiceoveralchohol but as of recent, he has become a soloist.

According to Spotify, Khundi Panda released one of his first works in 2017 with the single “Ms.808”. As well as his own works, Khundi Panda has also been featured in a multitude of albums with other artists. The latest artist collaborations have been with; BewhY, Kid Milli, Sumin, and Grizzly.

“Home” with Hippy was G***y, was originally part of an album released earlier this year. The album titled, “Garosawk” consists of ten different songs. Each song uniquely crafted like his own artwork; the album brings a new perspective of the world around us.

The music video itself was an art piece. It opens with Khundi Panda slowly rapping as the camera weaves in circles around him. Progressively throughout the video, elements of his character change.

At points, Khundi Panda would be wearing a mask of flowers, followed by a mask of gems. In multiple scenes, he is also shown to be wearing a stringed red box on his head. Pictures would be covering his body and at other moments, he is wearing a machine on him.

One part of the video that caught my attention was the use of arrows. Large, dark arrows are shown to pierce Khundi Panda’s body but instead of a stream of blood that would be naturally evident, there are lumps of colors in its place.

The video is definitely something you don’t see a lot of in everyday mainstream Korean music, making it a modern art piece on its own. It makes the audience think beyond what is there on the screen. Like pondering over a framed artwork at a museum, this music video is worth looking over and analyzing over and over again.
