YOUHA Talks about her Ep ‘love you more,’ and more!

Meet YOUHA, a soloist from South Korea. The singer-songwriter debuted in 2020 with ISLAND, and since then has released three singles, Abittipsy, Cherry On Top, and ICE T, along with her new EP, “love you more,” During this interview, we will learn about YOUHA’s brand-new EP and her goals for the future.

Congratulations on your comeback! Can you tell us a bit about the meaning behind your song “Last Dance”?

YOUHA: ‘Last Dance’ is the title song from my first EP [love you more,]. It’s the most depressing, yet beautiful song from the album. ‘Last Dance’ is the last word I wanted to tell my ex-boyfriend to stop him from leaving me. It has sad lyrics matched with an addictive melody.

What is one interesting backstory behind the song ‘Last Dance’ that fans may not know about?

YOUHA: It was my very first time to act in front of cameras through this music video. I tried to act normal, but I was very nervous. Moreover, it was also my first time doing underwater shooting. I thought I will be good at it since I love swimming, but it was very scary and different from what I imagined. However, all the hardship paid off because the music video looks amazing. Please check it out if you haven’t yet. Haha

You’ve written a plethora of hit songs for a variety of artists. From LOONA to VICTON, and yourself included. What’s your songwriting process like?

YOUHA: I write topline first as soon as I hear beats. I start humming a few words while writing the topline and then think about a theme and lyrics to accompany the melody.

Looking back on your trainee days, what advice would you give your younger self?

YOUHA: Thanks for hanging in there for such a long time. Current YOUHA only exists because of all those times. Please focus on your training classes and work hard!!  I want to tell my younger self this sort of thing. Haha.

What do you want fans to take away from your new ep “love you more,”?

YOUHA: I wanted to share my stories and my songs with the fans through this album so much. It will make me very happy if the fans can relate to and enjoy the songs on my album.

Check out YOUHA’s new single “Last Dance” and Ep ‘love you more,’. We want to thank YOUHA for interviewing with us and Universal Music Korea for giving us this opportunity.
