The Next Survival Show : Dream Academy
HYBE has partnered up with an American label, Geffen Records to create the next global it-girl girl group.
Titled “Dream Academy” this survival-type competition show has 20 global competitors competing for a spot to be in the next girl group. Over 120,000 submissions were submitted from girls all over the world but only 20 girls were selected. Before announcing the 20 finalists, these girls practiced for about a year in Los Angeles preparing for the show and receiving kpop trainee lessons.
The first episode(s), titled missions by different teams such as dance and vocals, aired on September 1st, 2023 on YouTube and will be airing for 12 weeks. You can watch the episodes on their YouTube channel. New episodes will be airing weekly each Friday and fans can vote for their favorites via Weverse. This show is said to become a documentary show that is in hopes to air next year directed by Nadia Hallgren, an award-winning filmmaker.
